HomeValet's Smart Box is intended for outdoor use, so in general, being exposed to the elements shouldn't cause any issues.
There are a few circumstances where the weather might affect your box's functionality, so here are some notes on how you can expect your Smart Box to function in extreme temperatures and during wet weather.
Extreme Heat:
The Smart Box is designed for use in a location where the temperature will not exceed 110°F (43°C).
While your Smart Box can operate in direct sunlight, doing so may increase energy consumption.
Extreme Cold:
Temperatures of 32°F (0°C) and below will not affect the Smart Box's operation; however, items left in the pantry section may freeze.
The Smart Box keeps items in the 'fridge' section above freezing temperatures using the box's heating element.
We recommend removing the divider between the 'pantry' and 'fridge' sections if you're expecting a delivery containing liquids (water, soda, etc.) and the temperature outside is below 32°F (0°C).
Rain & Snow:
The Smart Box can operate in rainy and snowy conditions, but if possible, we recommend installing the box under an overhang to limit the amount of water exposure.
