Just like with a home refrigerator, your Smart Box needs to run an auto-defrost cycle periodically to avoid frost build-up and keep the unit operating effectively.
Our Smart Boxes run a defrost cycle every day at 11 pm Eastern when the following things are true:
- The cooling engine ran for more than one (1) hour that day
- The Smart Box is in Energy Saving mode
Note: If your Smart Box is not in Energy Saving mode at 11 pm, you have until 2 am Eastern to change modes before the Smart Box skips the defrost cycle for that day.
Need your Smart Box to stay cold during the auto-defrost window? No problem!
If a scheduled delivery requires the cooling engine, or if you manually switch modes using the app, your Smart Box will abandon the defrost cycle for the evening and try again the next day.
