When you first install the HomeValet mobile app and sign up for an account, you will be prompted to add your first Smart Box.
Adding a Smart Box to your HomeValet account
Before you begin
Make sure that your WiFi network is online, that you have the network's password ready to enter during the setup process, and that you have both WiFi and Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device.
Tap 'Add a Smart Box' to get started
Keep your smartphone close to the Smart Box and tap ‘Search for a Smart Box’
At this point, your phone may ask you to grant Bluetooth or Location permissions for the HomeValet app. You can read more about why these permissions are necessary here
Once you have granted the required permissions, the HomeValet app will scan for your box; tap the box to add it to your account
After your Smart Box has been selected, the app will scan for nearby WiFi networks. Select your WiFi network from the drop-down menu and enter your WiFi network's password.
If successful, you'll see this celebratory screen 🎉
Next, you'll need to name your Smart Box. Tap 'Name your Smart Box' and enter a name that you'll use to identify your box
Enter the street location where your Smart Box is located
And finally, provide a few words to describe your Smart Box’s location (ex. The box is located on the front porch, to the right of the front door.)
Once your Smart Box has been added to your account, it's good to test the connection. You can do this by attempting to lock and unlock your Smart Box on the mobile app’s Home Screen
